Although the ReFX Nexus 2 synthesizer is limited in terms of sound design - it's far from being a preset player. In this video I create a totally new sound by tweaking the parameters of an existing preset. Limited, yes. But still very capable, especially when digging deeper into the equalizer, compressor and lfos.

In this tutorial I show you how you can assemble your own personalized drum kits, with minimum of effort. While the technique isn't revolutionary in any way, it's a quick way of creating drum kits with drums that work well with each other. For the demonstration I used Fxpansion Geist and sounds from Sample Magic Organic House - but you can use practically any software or sample library. The only requirement is that they contain some kind of musical loops, such as bass, synth or pad loops.

This sound of this effect reminds of delay, but is smoother and doesn't repeat itself. The pumping reverb is one of the signature sounds of german sound designers Vengeance and is actually quite easy to create.

The Sonalksis TBK3 is a compressor capable of such overcompression that it just doesn't jump out on your face, but grabs you by the neck and forces you to stare into your monitor with both amazement and fear. Although the TBK3 can be used on all kinds of material, it's a superior tool for bringing out the evilness in any drums.
